Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal in King's Lynn

Professional Roof Cleaning in King's Lynn

If you look at the roofs across King's Lynn, you will notice that many have a green or black coating of moss, algae, or lichen. It is incredibly common in this part of Norfolk, thanks to the damp climate and the proximity to the coast. While a little bit of moss might seem harmless, left unchecked it causes real problems that shorten the life of your tiles.

Moss holds moisture against your roof tiles, which accelerates their deterioration. It grows under the edges of tiles and lifts them, allowing wind and rain to get underneath. In winter, the moisture trapped in moss freezes and expands, cracking tiles. Heavy moss growth also blocks your gutters, causing overflow and water damage to your walls and foundations.

Our Safe Roof Cleaning Process

We take a careful, methodical approach to roof cleaning. Unlike some roof cleaning companies, we do not use high-pressure jet washers on roof tiles, as the high pressure can damage the surface of the tile and force water under the laps. Instead, we use a safe, proven method:

• Manual scrape and brush: We carefully remove the bulk of the moss and debris from the roof surface by hand. This is done without damaging tiles.

• Gutter clearance: All the moss and debris is cleared from your gutters and downpipes as part of the job, preventing blockages.

• Biocide treatment: We apply a professional-grade biocide that kills any remaining moss, algae, and lichen spores. This treatment continues working for months after application, significantly slowing regrowth and keeping your roof cleaner for longer.

How Often Should You Clean Your Roof?

We recommend having your roof cleaned every three to five years, depending on its exposure and the amount of tree cover around your property. Properties in areas like The Walks, or those backing onto wooded areas around King's Lynn, tend to accumulate moss more quickly than those on open, sunny streets.

A professional roof clean is also an excellent opportunity for us to inspect the overall condition of your roof and flag up any repairs that might be needed before they become expensive problems. Think of it as a health check for your roof.
