Cavity Wall Insulation Extraction in King's Lynn
Cavity wall insulation was installed in thousands of homes across King's Lynn over the past few decades, often through government-backed energy efficiency schemes. While it works well in many properties, it causes serious problems in others. If your home has developed damp patches on internal walls, mould growth, or a persistent musty smell since the insulation was installed, the cavity fill is very likely the cause.
Why Cavity Wall Insulation Fails in King's Lynn Properties
King's Lynn's position near The Wash and the Norfolk coast means that many properties are exposed to driving rain, particularly from the north and east. Cavity wall insulation can act as a bridge, allowing moisture to travel from the outer leaf of your wall across to the inner leaf. This penetrating damp is especially problematic in:
Properties with narrow cavities: Many older King's Lynn homes have cavities of 50mm or less, which is too narrow for insulation to work properly without bridging.
Exposed locations: Properties that face open ground, the River Great Ouse, or The Wash are more susceptible to wind-driven rain penetration through filled cavities.
Properties with existing defects: Cracked render, failed pointing, or damaged bricks allow water into the cavity, which the insulation then holds against the inner wall instead of allowing it to drain away.
Older construction without a damp-proof course: Some properties in King's Lynn were built without a cavity tray or adequate damp-proof course, making them unsuitable for cavity fill from the outset.
Our Cavity Wall Insulation Removal Process
We remove cavity wall insulation by drilling extraction points in the outer wall at regular intervals and using specialist vacuum suction equipment to pull the insulation material out of the cavity. Whether the fill is mineral wool, polystyrene beads, or blown fibre, we have the equipment and experience to extract it completely.
Once the cavity is clear, we inspect it using a borescope camera to ensure all the material has been removed and to check the condition of the wall ties. After extraction, the drill holes are made good with matching mortar, and we leave your walls looking as they did before the insulation was installed.
Within weeks of removal, most homeowners notice a dramatic improvement in damp levels as the cavity is able to do its job again, acting as a clear air gap between the wet outer wall and your dry inner wall.

50+years moss accumulation on the roof was causing us concern. Difficult to find local firm that did not use pressure washing to clean so when a R.Mail leaflet drop came through the door, decided to contact Prestige. Their response was quick and a quote was soon provided to clear the moss by hand which we accepted. an early date was agreed. Unfortunately this uncovered more serious damage to the underlying structure (as shown by photos) and a revised quote provided to completely re-tile. We agreed a new price and within a week the work started. The team of 4 worked hard completing the re-roof in 2 days, keeping us informed of progress, and leaving the area in a clean and tidy state. As well as a guarantee we were given a report on what was done, supported by photos. Overall a very professional approach.

I recently had work carried out by Prestige Roof, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. As a young homeowner, I was understandably cautious about who I chose, but from the very first interaction, the team put me completely at ease. Luke, the director, took the time to come out personally and explain everything to me in a clear and thorough manner. He was extremely professional, patient, and well-mannered throughout, ensuring I fully understood the process and even encouraging me to take time to review the quotation with my family before making any decisions. This level of honesty and transparency was very reassuring. The work itself was completed to an exceptional standard. The team on site were punctual, respectful, and genuinely lovely to deal with. It was clear they took pride in their work, and the finished result truly reflects that. The completed project has transformed the appearance of my property, and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. The aftercare provided was equally impressive. Any questions I had were handled promptly and professionally, and the office staff were always friendly, helpful, and efficient in their communication. Overall, my experience with Prestige Roof has been outstanding from start to finish. Their professionalism, quality of workmanship, and excellent customer service make them a company I would confidently recommend to anyone.

We discovered a small leak in the kitchen ceiling of our home in Snettisham. Prestige Roof came out and fixed the problem quickly. A small job but one they were happy to do. Great service from a local company.

We received a flyer through our door at the start of the month and decided to get in touch. Although it was only a small job, it’s definitely worth leaving a review ! Prestige responded quickly, came out the next day, and provided a quote on the same day . Work started the following week and lasted three days. They carried out a full roof clean, as well as cleaning the fascia and gutters. As an added bonus, they also jet-washed our driveway at no extra cost, which was a really nice touch. A big thank you to the team at Prestige, and especially to Luke for the excellent service. Highly recommended.
