Keeping Your Chimney Safe and Secure

Chimney Re-pointing
Over time, the mortar between your bricks will naturally weather and crumble away. This process leaves gaps that allow water to seep into the stack. In winter, this water freezes and expands, cracking the brickwork and making the chimney unstable.
Re-pointing is the process of raking out the old, decayed mortar and replacing it with a fresh, strong mix. It instantly restores the structural integrity of the stack and refreshes the look of your home. As third-generation roofers, we take pride in our brickwork. Lead Work and Flashings
The "flashing" is the skirt of lead that sits around the base of the chimney where it meets the roof tiles. It is there to stop water running down the chimney and into your loft.
Lead work is a traditional skill that requires real craftsmanship. If the lead is split or has slipped, you will almost certainly get damp patches on your ceilings. We are experts in dressing and welding lead. We can repair damaged flashings or install brand new lead aprons, back gutters, and soakers to ensure a completely watertight seal.
Capping and Venting
Many homes across the region have chimneys that are no longer in use. If you have blocked up your fireplaces, it is vital that the chimney top is capped off correctly.
Leaving an unused chimney open allows rain and birds to get inside. However, sealing it completely can cause damp and condensation issues in the flue. We install proper chimney cowls and vented caps. These clever devices stop rain and nesting birds from entering but still allow air to circulate freely, keeping the chimney healthy.
Chimney Removal
Sometimes, a chimney is beyond repair or simply no longer needed. If you want to remove a stack to free up space or reduce maintenance, we can handle the entire process. We carefully dismantle the stack brick by brick, seal the roof over with matching tiles or slates, and leave your roof looking as if the chimney was never there.

50+years moss accumulation on the roof was causing us concern. Difficult to find local firm that did not use pressure washing to clean so when a R.Mail leaflet drop came through the door, decided to contact Prestige. Their response was quick and a quote was soon provided to clear the moss by hand which we accepted. an early date was agreed. Unfortunately this uncovered more serious damage to the underlying structure (as shown by photos) and a revised quote provided to completely re-tile. We agreed a new price and within a week the work started. The team of 4 worked hard completing the re-roof in 2 days, keeping us informed of progress, and leaving the area in a clean and tidy state. As well as a guarantee we were given a report on what was done, supported by photos. Overall a very professional approach.

We received a flyer through our door at the start of the month and decided to get in touch. Although it was only a small job, it’s definitely worth leaving a review ! Prestige responded quickly, came out the next day, and provided a quote on the same day . Work started the following week and lasted three days. They carried out a full roof clean, as well as cleaning the fascia and gutters. As an added bonus, they also jet-washed our driveway at no extra cost, which was a really nice touch. A big thank you to the team at Prestige, and especially to Luke for the excellent service. Highly recommended.

I called prestige roof after receiving one of there flyers threw my door , I wanted a price for a roof replacement . They gave me that , the office stuff was easy do deal with and they worked at a good speed and so did the Prestige team what done my roof . Finding a good roofing firm who do what they say they are going to do is hard to come by but Prestige definitely meet there expectations.
