Natural Slate Roofing

Timeless Beauty for Your Norfolk Home

There is simply nothing quite like the look of a natural slate roof. It is the gold standard of roofing materials. It offers a sleek, natural aesthetic that improves with age. Whether you live in a heritage cottage on the Norfolk coast or a modern new build in King's Lynn, slate adds an instant touch of class and significant value to your property.

At Prestige Roof, we have a special passion for slate. It is a material that demands respect. You cannot just throw a slate roof up in a day. It requires patience, precision, and a skilled hand to cut and lay correctly.

Master Craftsmen: A Dying Art

This is where our history matters. As third-generation roofers, we have inherited the traditional skills required to work with natural slate.

Many modern roofing companies prefer to work with concrete tiles because they are quick and easy to install. Slate is different. It needs to be sorted for thickness, hand-cut to fit valleys and verges, and nailed with the correct double-lap to ensure it is watertight. It is a craft that Luke learned from his father and grandfather. When you choose us, you are choosing a team that understands the art of traditional roofing.

The Benefits of Natural Slate

Beyond its stunning appearance, slate is incredibly practical.

• Longevity: A well-installed slate roof can last over 100 years. It is a true lifetime investment for your home.

• Durability: Slate is natural rock. It is fire resistant, waterproof, and strong enough to withstand the harshest winds Norfolk coastline can throw at it.

• Kerb Appeal: Nothing beats the character of natural stone. It blends beautifully with the brick and flint architecture often found in our local villages.

Sourcing the Best Materials

Not all slate is created equal. We source high-quality slates from trusted quarries to ensure you get a consistent colour and grade. We work with:

• Welsh Slate: The premium choice, known globally for its durability and distinct blue-grey colour.

• Spanish Slate: A very popular option that offers excellent quality and value, with a smooth, uniform finish.

• Reclaimed Slate: Perfect for repairs or extensions on older properties where you need to match the existing weathered look.
