Chimney Repairs & Repointing in Wisbech

Chimney Repairs and Repointing in Wisbech

A chimney is one of the most exposed parts of any roof, standing proud of everything around it, so it is often the first place to let water in. If you have damp on a bedroom ceiling, staining around the breast or mortar dropping into the grate, the stack is the likely culprit. At Prestige Roof we carry out chimney repairs of every kind across Wisbech, from repointing and reflashing to flaunching and full rebuilds.

We are a third-generation family business based in Dersingham, near King's Lynn, and Wisbech is comfortably within our working area, a short drive away in the PE13 postcode. We work across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and the wider East of England.

Chimney Work We Carry Out in Wisbech

• Repointing: Years of Fenland weather wash the mortar out of the joints. We rake out the old mortar and repoint the stack so it sheds water again.

• Lead flashing renewal: The lead apron and soakers where the chimney meets the roof are a common point of failure, and we renew them properly.

• Flaunching: We renew the mortar fillet that beds the pots on top of the stack once it has cracked and let water down inside.

• Cowls and bird guards: We fit cowls and guards to keep out rain, birds and downdraught.

• Partial and full rebuilds: Where a stack is beyond repair we rebuild it in matching brick, or take it down neatly below the roof line if it is no longer used.

• Chimney removal: When a loft conversion or an extension calls for it, we remove redundant stacks and make the roof good.

Local Chimneys in Wisbech

Wisbech has some of the finest townscape in the Fens, and its chimneys reflect it. The handsome Georgian merchant houses along The Brinks beside the River Nene carry tall brick stacks, as do the Victorian terraces around the town, and after a century or more of exposure many need attention. On the listed and conservation-area properties we work in matching brick and lime mortar where appropriate, and we treat period stacks with the care they deserve.
