Spray Foam Removal in Whittlesey

Spray Foam Insulation Removal in Whittlesey

If you have spray foam insulation in your loft and you are trying to sell or remortgage a property in Whittlesey, you may have run into difficulty. Many lenders and surveyors now refuse to lend on homes where foam has been sprayed onto the roof timbers, because it conceals the condition of the rafters and can trap moisture against them. At Prestige Roof we safely remove spray foam insulation from homes across Whittlesey and the surrounding Fenland, and restore the roof to a condition lenders are happy with.

Based in Dersingham, near King's Lynn, we cover Whittlesey and the wider PE7 area, and we are seeing more and more enquiries from homeowners caught out by a failed mortgage valuation.

Why Spray Foam Causes Mortgage and Survey Problems

• Hidden timber defects: Once foam is sprayed over the rafters, a surveyor can no longer inspect the timbers for rot or damage, so they tend to assume the worst.

• Trapped moisture: Closed-cell foam in particular can stop the roof breathing, holding damp against the timbers and leading to decay over time.

• Blocked ventilation: Foam frequently seals up the eaves and the natural airflow a roof relies on, which makes condensation problems worse.

• Lender refusals: The combination of the above means many banks and building societies will simply decline to lend until the foam is removed.

How We Remove Spray Foam in Whittlesey

Removing spray foam properly is careful, skilled work. We extract it by hand rather than using power tools that could damage the rafters, taking the foam back off the timbers and battens and clearing it from the loft. Once it is out, we check the condition of the roof, reinstate proper ventilation, and can advise on suitable replacement insulation if you want it. We then provide documentation confirming the work, which is exactly what a lender or surveyor will want to see.
